Exchange server quarter updates posted early
While the Exchange product group does try and release every 3rd month (March, June, September, December) and 3rd week of that month for quarterly updates, with the chatter about a possible security vulnerability, the Exchange PG is releasing these security fixes for all currently supported Exchange versions as noted on the eHelo blog page.
There are no current AD Schema changes (if you have the previous up to date CU’s/RU’s), these updates are designed to stop any potential compromises on your system due to the recently released security exploits.
One other important note, is that the Exchange Server 2019 CU1 is only available via the Volume License Service Center. This was mentioned at Ignite in September of 2018 for the RTM version but may have slipped by for people to make the leap of faith that all CU’s would also be delivered with this mechanism. This allows, potentially, for Exchange Server 2019 to be the last on premises version. Time will only tell if this is the case and we’ll know more as calendar year 2022 approaches.
As always, you can review the Exchange supportability matrix to confirm version compatibility with OS’s, .NET, and Active Directory levels as they relate to Exchange Server version support.
There you go, keep your servers up to date and continue to move forward with patching. The good news is, I’m running into about 50% of customers that are patching their Exchange environment, when in a DAG, during the day, as there are no more interruptions to end users, if you have a properly designed and implemented environment.
