You should have notifications of RRS feeds to updates on specific websites
If you are in IT and work with a specific technology, or a group of technologies, then you should truly leverage the ability to get notifications from product group web sites, or at least important sites that you ought be following.
Recently, Exchange servers had an issue with specific Windows Updates. Without getting a notification, you may or may not have heard about this issue. For Exchange servers, it’s best to ensure you are following the Exchange team blog site. There are many sites to follow for specific technologies, too many to list here, but having the notification is the key.
There are several services/applications that provide these feeds, but I’ll mention two of them here: IFTT.com and Microsoft’s Flow. Both allow you to setup your own process, either e-mail, or text message, or any number of options, that can notify you when something is updated on a popular webpage that you are following.
Technology is changing at a rising pace and will only increase in speed of those changes. While it is getting more complex, information can still be obtained quickly and clearly if you use a little technology to keep your filtering of data precise. Even this blog site you are reading has a simple RSS feed option, available for following.
